Commercial Insurance Inspector- Independent Contractor (Part-time/Non-employee)
EXL Risk Control seeks individuals who possess excellent communication skills, have basic computer proficiency, able to manage multiple assignments, successfully secure customer appointments within a local territory, complete work assignments on time, and willing to meet recommended quality and timeliness standards.
Commercial Insurance Inspectors – Independent Contractors provide risk control reports to insurance industry clients. These reports contain information necessary to underwrite a commercial insurance policy, and may include recommendations to control and/or correct potential loss producing conditions associated with that policy.
As a Commercial Insurance Inspector – IC you will work from your home and travel to local commercial business operations (i.e.) retail businesses, restaurants, hotels, apartment buildings and complexes, construction operations and jobsites, various types of manufacturers, churches, schools, etc. You will be expected to assess the risk for various commercial insurance lines of business that can include Property, General Liability, Workers Compensation, Auto/Fleet, Products Liability, Inland Marine and Builders Risk.
Once an assignment is received, you are required to schedule the appointment with the policyholder to survey the insured location and operations. You are expected to arrive on time and prepared to complete the following: conduct an interview, survey/inspect the premises, identify hazards/controls, take digital photographs, and make any necessary recommendations to reduce any potential loss exposures. Note that all property inspections require the consultant to measure the building(s), calculate the square footage, and provide a diagram. Upon completing the survey, you are expected to promptly produce a detailed and accurate report of the risk with the information obtained. All work is received and submitted online.
As an Independent Consultant, you are expected to have the necessary tools: cell phone, PC with an image/document scanner, digital camera, high speed internet, a measuring wheel, reliable transportation, and a valid driver’s license.
